HIRING MANAGER ACCOUNTS
We created 86 List so that each restaurant or company can have one Hiring Manager account.  If you'd like to manage the public profile and post job listings for your restaurant or company, sign up as a Hiring Manager.  Any messages you send, job postings you create, or any discussions you participate in on our Community Forum will appear under your restaurant or company's name.

MEMBER ACCOUNTS
If you want to represent yourself on 86 List, you should create a Member account.  With a Member account, you can create a professional profile with your work history or resume and post a head shot, if you wish.  When you send messages or participate in the Community Forum, your name, or your username, should you choose, will appear.  You cannot post job postings with a Member account.

CAN I HAVE BOTH TYPES OF ACCOUNTS?
Yes, you can join 86 List as a Member AND as a Hiring Manager if you’d like.  You’ll just need a unique email address for each of your memberships.  Please keep in mind that we only allow one Hiring Manager account per restaurant or company.  If more than one manager at your establishment wants to use the 86 List Hiring Manager account to post jobs, you can simply share the password with them.

GENERAL FAQs...

*What is 86 List?

86 List is an online job search and networking resource committed to building a community for New York City restaurant and hospitality workers and employers. 86 List provides a home for hospitality employers to research job seekers, post job listings and company profiles and connect with potential candidates. It offers a place for hospitality workers to research job listings, post resumes and professional profiles, and connect with potential employers, and others in the industry.  Our goal is to be the go-to site for NYC hospitality workers and employers when posting jobs and searching for job opportunities.

*What does "86 List" mean?

An "86 list" is a dry erase or chalkboard that restaurant employees write on throughout dinner service to keep track of menu items that are running low or are no longer available. It's a point of reference for everyone in the restaurant, a way to stay current. And because it is located somewhere central to the front and back of the house, it's a meeting place, a place to discuss issues and move forward.

*How do I join 86 List?

There are 2 easy ways to join 86 List:

*How much does it cost?

It's free to join 86 List, whether you join as a Member, or a Hiring Manager.

*What if I want to join as both a Member and a Hiring Manager?

That's great! You can join 86 List both ways if you'd like. You'll just need a different email attached to each of your memberships.

*I'd like to join as a Member, but I don't want my current employer to know I may be looking for a job...can you help?

Of course. 86 List lets you sign up as a Member, and choose to remain anonymous. Simply fill out the Member sign up form, and be sure to check the box labeled, "ONLY SHOW MY USERNAME ON THE SITE". Now, only your username will appear next to your profile. You can choose to change this at any time, by editing your profile.

*I want to be a Member of the 86 List community, but I'm not looking for a job...should I sign up?

Definitely. As a Member of the 86 List community, you can reach out to your peers through 86 List's messaging service, research companies within the industry, or find out what people are talking about on the 86 List community forum.

*How do I let employers know that I'm not looking to be hired?

When you sign up as a Member, do NOT check the box that says, "I WOULD LIKE TO APPEAR IN SEARCH RESULTS". When Hiring Managers run a search for possible candidates, your profile won't appear, so they'll be unlikely to contact you when they have open positions. You can choose to change this at any time, by editing your profile.

*How do I let employers know I AM looking for a job?

When you sign up as a Member, check the box that says, "I WOULD LIKE TO APPEAR IN SEARCH RESULTS".  When Hiring Managers run a search for possible candidates, your profile will appear, so they'll know you are looking to be hired, and can contact you when they have open positions.  You can choose to change this at any time, by editing your profile.

*Do I have to fill out my profile?

No. 86 List immediately creates a public profile for you when you join. If you choose not to add any more information to your public profile, it is your choice.

*How do I post a job?

You must have a Hiring Manager account in order to post a job on 86 List. Once you sign in, please visit the "How to Post a Job" link at the top of the screen. Here you will find information on job postings, including pricing.

*I'm having trouble uploading a picture. Any advice?

Please make sure that your picture is in .GIF or .JPG format, and is less than 5MB in size.

*How do I contact someone on the site?

Open the Member's public profile. Click the "Contact Member" button to send them a message. The Member will receive an email that they have an 86 List message waiting for them.

*Can I contact a Hiring Manager if I'm interested in working for their restaurant?

Of course. Open the restaurant's public profile. Click the "Contact Us" button, and send them a message. Be sure to keep the message professional. You want to make a great first impression!
